9-8-8 is now available nationwide to call or text during a mental health, substance use or suicidal crisis

988, the new 3-digit number for mental health, substance use, and suicide crisis is now available nationwide to call or text! Anyone in the U.S. can text or call 988 to reach trained counselors who can help them cope with a mental health emergency, and direct them to additional resources for mental health and substance use treatment. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline’s existing 1-800 number will continue to work as well. Learn more about 988 at nami.org/988.
