The Individualized Education Account (IEA) Program is a school choice program for eligible K-12 students with qualifying disabilities. The IEA Program gives parents and students access to public education funds to use on certain types of approved educational expenses that best meet their unique needs. Once a student enrolls in the IEA Program, they must enroll in and attend either a non-public (private) school, umbrella home school, or be independently home schooled.
Important: In January 2025, the IEA Program will email all parents/guardians of a student with a disability in Tennessee to notify them about our program and our upcoming application window. This notification is in accordance with Tenn. Code Ann. §49-10-1405(a)(5). To apply for the IEA Program, the parent/legal guardian of an eligible student (or an eligible student who has reached the age of 18) must apply online. Applications for the 2025-26 school year will open on February 15, 2025, and will close on April 15, 2025. Applications can be found here during that time.
