Working Toward Positive Educational Outcomes: Mental Health and Special Education Webinar

Individual Education Program (IEP) team meetings can be challenging when a child has complex mental health needs.
Distance and hybrid learning models can also complicate those needs. This workshop will provide parents and others with information to prepare for a positive team meeting to support a child’s mental health needs in school.

The following topics will be discussed:
• Strategies for communicating about mental health needs and how they relate to behavior in school
• Knowing who to invite to an IEP team meeting and how to prepare
• Examples of positive supports and interventions and the importance of wellness and recovery
• Navigating IEP team disagreements when they arise
