TN Deaf-Blind Movie Premiere “Feeling Through” – Free Movie Premiere

  • June 27, 2019 - 1:00pm
  • Franklin Theatre, 419 Main Street, Franklin, TN

The TN Deaf-Blind Project is co-hosting, Feeling Through, a moving starring the first ever Deaf-Blind Actor.  We would like to invite you to this free event which will be held on June 27th, 2019 from 12 pm to 4 pm at the Franklin Theatre located in downtown Franklin, TN.

The Helen Keller National Center (HKNC) is a proud fiscal sponsor and collaborator on Feeling Through, a coming of age story about the life-changing encounter between a teen without a home and a Deaf-Blind man. The film is historic, with a Deaf-Blind actor cast as a lead. But Feeling Through is not at its core about Deaf-Blindness; it is about fundamental human connection. Complementing Feeling Through, and capturing the process of making this historic film – from the casting room to the cutting room floor – and the journey of our first-time actor, we’ve made a second film, a documentary. Also appearing in the documentary: the Deaf-Blind man who inspired the story. Both films will be screened together and accompanied by a panel discussion with members of the Deaf-Blind community.

We view this as a unique opportunity to promote an authentic portrayal of a Deaf-Blind character in a film while challenging common stereotypes and misconceptions.

Please feel free to pass along this invitation.
