Tennessee State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) and TNSTEP have partnered to develop a new webinar series on increasing access to core instruction and inclusive opportunities for students with disabilities.
A major area of emphasis of the State Personnel Development Grant is the work being done with general education teachers using various techniques and tools to effectively reach ALL learners. Today’s classrooms are more inclusive and diverse than ever. Information from this webinar series will enhance teachers’ skills to be responsive to the learning styles and needs of students with and without disabilities in the classroom and provide parents with practical tools to use to give effective input to teachers that will help their children be successful.

Learning Objectives for this webinar:
- What differentiation is and how does it fit under the umbrella of Universal Design for Learning
- An overview of the Six Elements of the Differentiation Inventory and how each is implemented in a classroom setting
- Understand how to use the information as a tool to support instructional practices and effectively communicate with teachers and administrators about a child’s education.
Presenters:
Robert Taylor | Regional Special Education Interventionist | SPDG
Robert serves as an interventionist for the TDOE with the State Personnel Development Grant (SPDG) in East Tennessee. He has worked in Special Education for twenty years in various roles, including Special Education Teacher, System-Wide Behavioral Specialist, Mental Health Counselor, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Trainer, Lead Teacher Evaluator, and Supervisor, working in both public and private residential school settings.
Deborah Yates-McBride | Director of Rural Services/ Professional Development Specialist | TNSTEP
Deborah began providing services with TNSTEP as a contracted District Parent Trainer in 2012 and transitioned into a full-time staff position in October 2016. Deborah holds a B.S. in Special Education from Bethel University, McKenzie, TN, and an M.Ed. in Special Education from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, AZ. Deborah represents the Southwest Developmental District for the Tennessee Council on Developmental Disabilities appointed by Governor Haslam in 2013. She spent the majority of her professional life teaching students with disabilities within the public school system. Deb is the mother of four children. She attained personal knowledge of navigating the educational system by advocating for two of her children with exceptionalities. Deb’s extensive background as a special educator as well as personal experiences provides her a unique ability to understand the logistics of the educational system as well as best practices, accommodations, and modifications necessary for student success.
