- Instructor: TNSTEP
The University of Tennessee Center for Literacy, Education & Employment conducts training and technical assistance in delivering a self-determination and career planning curriculum to school systems interested in assisting students to self-determine their career planning at the point of transition from school to adult life. The self-determination and career planning approach curriculum is based on the principles of self-determination. Students receive instruction and the opportunity to practice self and career discovery. The targeted participants are in an inclusive classroom with both regular and special education teachers co-teaching. The class objectives include providing students with decision-making skills to increase self-discovery, planning for career and post-secondary outcomes, and participating in the IEP process.
Personal Profile Brochure Description:
One of the obstacles that parents often face is trying to explain their child’s needs and behaviors to new individuals who come into the child’s life. Using a very simple template, parents can create a Personal Brochure that will help with some of the questions that people often have. This is an awesome tool to use to introduce a child to service providers including new teachers, personal assistants, and even school bus drivers just to name a few.
