The Individualized Education Account (IEA) Program is a new school choice program for eligible students with disabilities. The program provides options for parents to choose the education opportunities that best meet the unique needs of their child through access to public education funds. This presentation will provide an overview of the IEA Program, including how students enroll in the program, a description of the account holder’s responsibilities, and what types of expenses IEA funds can be used for.

Rebecca E. Wright, Director, Individualized Education Program, Tennessee Department of Education
Ms. Wright is the Director of the Individualized Education Account Program at the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE). She earned a bachelor’s degree in social science education from Southeastern University and a master’s degree in public policy specializing in K-12 education policy from Vanderbilt University where her research focused on school choice. She is a former middle school social studies inclusion teacher and also worked as a Legislative Research Analyst for the Tennessee Comptroller’s Offices of Research and Education Accountability. Ms. Wright joined the TDOE in 2013 as the Policy and Communications Coordinator for the Division of Curriculum and Instruction.
