Advocacy strategies for parents: Making the IEP process work for your child

The January issue of Autism Advocate includes an article written by MCA Attorney Brad Dembs providing advice to help parents advocate for their child with disabilities.  

“Creating an IEP is required by law to be a collaborative process to develop a plan for the instruction, services, and supports that a child with disabilities needs to benefit from his or her education,” Brad writes. “However, this process can be intimidating for parents, and can often turn into an argument in which parents feel outnumbered and uninformed.” Read the full article on page 23 of this month’s issue of Autism Advocate
